These estimates are based on mileage from center-city Erie to center-city
of the destination. Your charges will be based on the actual mileage of
your trip at $1.87 per mile.
How does the Taximeter Work?
Taximeters have an internal clock and a connection to the Vehicle Speed Sensor.
They use these tools to determine how far the cab has travelled and how much time
has been spent waiting (at a traffic signal, for example).
The rates on this page are given in a per-mile format to facilitate your estimate
of the cost of your trip. Our taximeters actually measure sevenths of a mile.
If you get into a taxi ($1.57) and travel 1/7 of a mile with no stops (33 cents),
you will be charged $1.57 + 33 cents + $0.65 fuel surcharge, totalling $2.55
Time delays such as traffic signals, railroad crossings and heavy traffic will
affect the cost of your ride.
